Climate Tech Partners

About

Climate Tech Partners (CTP) is a climate-focused venture capital firm based in Australia, launched in 2023 by Tom Kline and Patrick Sieb. The firm was founded with the mission to accelerate decarbonization through Series A investments in breakthrough climate technologies. With strong backing from government agencies, institutional investors, and major corporate stakeholders, CTP aims to serve as a bridge between high-potential climate startups and real-world deployment partners across key industries.

Investment Focus

Climate Tech Partners focuses exclusively on climate technology startups at the Series A stage.

The fund targets companies operating in:

  • Energy and power
  • Transport and logistics
  • Industry and resources

The firm seeks innovations that drive electrification, sustainable fuels, decarbonized industrial processes, and next-generation infrastructure aligned with Australia’s energy transition.

Fund

In June 2025, Climate Tech Partners announced a $50 million first close of its debut fund. The raise was supported by major contributions from Australian Ethical Investments and the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC), each investing $15 million.

Earlier this year, Qantas and Airbus jointly committed another $15 million specifically to support aviation decarbonization through technologies like sustainable aviation fuel.

The fund’s corporate alignment is central to its strategy: CTP counts 11 corporate partners across energy, transport, industrials, and mining, many of whom are expected to pilot or adopt the technologies the fund supports. Anchor investor backing also includes billionaire Daniel Besen’s family office, further boosting the firm’s capital base and credibility.

The fund is designed to invest with speed and scale, leveraging corporate co-investment to reduce commercialization risk for early-stage climate innovators.

Other Information

Leadership

CTP is led by cofounders Tom Kline and Patrick Sieb, both of whom previously launched and managed Investible’s climate tech fund. The duo brings decades of investment, sectoral, and operational experience in cleantech. Their leadership reflects a commitment to matching capital with deployment pathways, ensuring climate technologies make it out of the lab and into the real world.

Investment Strategy

Climate Tech Partners operates a deployment-driven investment strategy that centers on collaboration with corporate partners to de-risk and accelerate adoption of climate technologies.

By engaging directly with end users from energy, aviation, mining, and logistics, CTP aims to validate product-market fit and enable early commercialization.

The fund focuses exclusively on Series A rounds, providing the capital and connections that startups need to scale after achieving initial proof of concept. This approach ensures CTP-backed companies not only receive funding but also gain access to pilot opportunities and market channels through its extensive partner network.

Notable Investments

The firm is still in the early stages of deploying capital and has not publicly disclosed individual portfolio companies. However, its early partnership with Qantas and Airbus points toward a strong initial focus on sustainable aviation solutions, and additional deals across energy, logistics, and industry are expected in the coming quarters.

Other

Climate Tech Partners is uniquely positioned at the intersection of capital, policy, and corporate demand. Its alignment with Australia’s national climate goals and its integration with strategic industries make it a compelling partner for startups looking to scale climate innovations with real-world application.

The fund also benefits from policy stability under the Albanese government, which has committed long-term resources and political backing to the cleantech transition.
