Oyster Bay Venture Capital is a Hamburg based, entrepreneur led venture capital firm focused exclusively on transforming the global food system. The firm brings together founder experience, sustainability expertise and deep sector specialization to back startups reshaping how food is produced, processed, distributed and consumed. Oyster Bay positions itself at the intersection of climate, food innovation and impact driven venture capital.
Oyster Bay Venture Capital has closed its oversubscribed second fund at more than €100 million. The fund is backed by leading institutional investors including the European Investment Fund (EIF) and KfW, along with entrepreneurs and corporate partners from the agri food sector.
Fund II builds on the strong performance of the firm’s first vehicle, which ranked in the top 10 percent of its European VC vintage in both IRR and DPI. The new fund doubles down on the thesis that the food sector represents one of the most important climate and economic transformation opportunities of the decade.
Fund II invests across the food system, supporting startups addressing emissions reduction, biodiversity, food security, supply chain modernization and resource efficiency.
The fund aims to catalyze high impact innovation in a sector that represents roughly one third of global emissions yet receives only about 8 percent of climate focused venture capital, highlighting a major market gap.
Leadership
The firm is led by Managing Partner Felix Leonhardt and Founding Partner Christoph Miller. Oyster Bay distinguishes itself as Europe’s only entrepreneur led VC fund dedicated exclusively to the future of food, bringing firsthand founder experience into every investment decision.
