Verb Ventures

About

Verb Ventures is a Luxembourg- and London-based venture capital firm founded to back digital infrastructure startups modernizing the world’s B2B trade and supply chains. Led by Founding Partner Alexander Chikunov and General Partner Igor Burlakov, the firm operates with a specialized focus on platforms that bring efficiency, transparency, and scalability to global commerce. Verb takes a systems-level view of digital marketplaces and data platforms, specifically those targeting historically overlooked, fragmented, and complex B2B industries. It stands out for both its sector-specific conviction and its data-driven operational support model.

Investment Focus

Verb Ventures invests in B2B marketplaces and data platforms at the late-seed to Series A stage. The firm looks for startups that are tackling deeply entrenched inefficiencies in global trade, such as opaque pricing, convoluted procurement processes, and outdated supply chain infrastructure.

Its ideal portfolio companies are building software that enables seamless digital transactions, operational visibility, and scalable workflows across hard-to-penetrate B2B sectors. Verb’s strategy is rooted in identifying vertical-specific opportunities where digital transformation can unlock significant value.

Fund

In May 2025, Verb Ventures announced the launch of its $28 million second fund, aimed at building a focused portfolio of 15 digital infrastructure startups over the next three years.

The fund’s limited partners include a mix of family offices from digital entrepreneurs, industrial investors, and former executives from companies like Yahoo Marketplace and Prisma AI. This group brings deep operational knowledge and commercial insight into digital platforms and trade systems.

Fund II has already made its first investment: a €1 million co-investment in SkySelect, an AI-powered procurement platform for the aviation materials industry, alongside top-tier firms like Lux Capital, Bain Capital, FJ Labs, and Initialized.

The fund is geared toward founders modernizing how industries buy, sell, and operate - often in sectors where procurement is still largely offline, fragmented, or inefficient.

Other Information

Leadership

In addition to capital, Verb equips founders with Verb MAP, its proprietary data and decision-making tool developed specifically for B2B marketplaces and platforms.

Verb MAP helps founders deeply understand operational metrics, prioritize resource allocation, and cut inefficiencies, turning complex digital operations into scalable, high-performance businesses. This hands-on support is core to the firm’s investment model.

Verb’s leadership team blends entrepreneurial and investment experience with operational knowledge from across marketplace businesses, including global platforms and SaaS products. Their approach is both high-conviction and long-term, with an emphasis on founders solving foundational infrastructure problems that power modern trade.

Notable Investments

Verb Ventures’ portfolio includes:

  • SmartCat, a data platform that raised $43M in 2024;
  • YardLink, which streamlines construction equipment procurement;
  • Geomiq, a manufacturing marketplace;
  • and SkySelect, its most recent investment focused on AI-driven procurement for aviation materials.

These companies reflect the firm’s strategy of digitizing overlooked B2B verticals and unlocking network effects within complex supply ecosystems.

Notable Exits

As a young firm with a focused, long-term investment horizon, Verb Ventures has not yet announced any public exits. However, several of its portfolio companies have secured significant follow-on funding and strategic partnerships, validating its thesis and positioning.
