Fund

In September 2025, White Star Capital announced the first close of its North American Seed Fund at 25 million dollars, with a final target of 50 million dollars. The vehicle is anchored by Fonds de solidarité FTQ, with additional commitments from Capital régional et coopératif Desjardins (CRCD), Fonds québécois d’amorçage Teralys financed by La Caisse, and TD Innovation Partners (TDIP), a division of The Toronto-Dominion Bank.

The fund is designed to invest at the pre-seed and seed stages, targeting startups across the US and Canada that demonstrate potential for global scale. It will make lead investments between 500,000 and 2 million dollars, while reserving capital for follow-on support through Series A and beyond.

Other Information

Leadership

The North American Seed Fund is co-managed by Sanjay Zimmermann, a long-time investor at White Star Capital, and Catherine Ouellet-Dupuis, who previously served as Chief Strategy and Corporate Development at Workleap, an IT and HR technology company that scaled beyond 100 million dollars in ARR. White Star’s global platform also includes general partners and venture partners across its hubs in North America, Europe, and Asia, providing portfolio founders with deep market access and expertise.

Investment Strategy

White Star Capital pursues a strategy of supporting early-stage companies with the potential to scale internationally. The firm combines regional focus with global reach, ensuring founders can access customers, partners, and talent across continents.

The North American Seed Fund reflects this philosophy, concentrating on high-potential startups in the US and Canada while preparing them to expand globally.

The fund writes lead checks in the 500,000 to 2 million dollar range and strategically reserves follow-on capital to support breakout companies through subsequent rounds.

Notable Investments

Across its global platform, White Star Capital has invested in a range of well-known technology companies spanning fintech, SaaS, digital health, gaming, and consumer internet. While the North American Seed Fund is a newly launched vehicle and its portfolio is not yet public, its predecessor funds have supported founders in building global category leaders across multiple markets.

Notable Exits

White Star Capital has recorded a number of exits globally, though none have yet been attributed to the newly launched seed vehicle. The firm has a track record of scaling technology companies to successful acquisitions and public listings.

Other

The North American Seed Fund gives portfolio founders access not only to early-stage capital but also to White Star’s broad international network, which spans innovation hubs in North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. This connectivity can accelerate go-to-market strategies and cross-border expansion.
