Khwarizmi Ventures

About

Khwarizmi Ventures is a Riyadh-based early-stage venture capital firm founded in 2021, focused on backing ambitious technology founders building for the GCC market. The firm takes its name from the ninth-century mathematician Muhammad ibn Musa al-Khwarizmi, whose algorithms underpinned modern computing. One of the most active early-stage investors in Saudi Arabia, the firm has backed more than 30 startups across Fund I and is now deploying its second fund. Fund I delivered five exits within its first five years, a strong DPI record by regional standards with portfolio companies collectively creating over 7,500 full-time jobs, improving the financial health of 500,000 users, and helping 120,000 users adopt healthier lifestyles.

Investment Focus

Khwarizmi is sector-agnostic, with continued concentration on fintech, consumer technology, and AI applications. The firm targets founders building for the GCC consumer and enterprise market, with Saudi Arabia as the home market and meaningful exposure to UAE-headquartered companies expanding regionally. Investment themes are aligned with Saudi Arabia's structural tailwinds, a young population (71% under 35), a rapidly digitizing payments environment (85% of retail payments now electronic), and a private sector contributing 51% of GDP and growing.
