Unlock the full databaseFintech is still one of the most backed sectors in venture capital. So far in 2026, 66 funds that list fintech as a focus area have launched or closed, raising around $15.6 billion between them. That total is lifted by a handful of very large vehicles, including Index Ventures at $2 billion, Bain Capital Ventures at $1.6 billion and Peak XV Partners at $1.3 billion, but most of the money on this list sits in much smaller funds. The median fund size is $65 million, and 13 funds raised less than $25 million.
For founders, the smaller funds are often the more useful ones. A $20 million to $70 million fund writes checks that fit pre-seed and seed rounds, moves faster, and is usually looking for its first handful of companies right after it closes. Large multi-stage firms tend to back companies that already have traction.
Europe and North America account for almost three quarters of the list, with 25 and 24 funds respectively. The United States alone has 23 funds and the United Kingdom has 10. There is also steady activity in Israel, India, Japan, the Gulf and Africa, where firms like Ventures Platform in Nigeria and Khwarizmi Ventures in Saudi Arabia are backing local fintech.
The pace has picked up through the year. Between July and September, 27 new fintech funds were announced, and September and October have been the busiest months so far with 11 each. Many of the newer funds also describe themselves as AI-first, backing fintech companies that use AI for underwriting, payments and financial operations.
