British Business Bank agreed to commit up to $178.4 million across two new Advent Life Sciences funds: Advent Life Sciences Fund IV, which received a $79.3 million and $99.1 million commitment for mid-to-late stage companies. Total sizes for both funds have not been publicly disclosed.
The commitments build on British Business Bank's existing relationship with Advent, including its earlier backing of Advent Life Sciences Fund III, and bring the Bank's total commitments across 17 life sciences vehicles to more than $985.0 million, helping attract over $3.96 billion in private-sector capital to the UK life sciences sector.
Advent previously raised $192.4 million for its second fund in 2014, after an earlier $99.1 million fund cornerstoned by the UK Future Technologies Fund's $19.8 million investment in 2010.
