Angel Invest is a Berlin-based super angel fund and one of the most active early-stage investors in Europe, backing approximately 75 startups per year with first checks of ~$138K. Founded by Jens Lapinski and Oliver Clasen, the firm has invested in more than 250 companies across its fund franchise. Every partner has founded and exited a company, and the firm commits to at least one year of coaching with every portfolio company post-investment.
Angel Invest backs founders at the angel, pre-seed, and seed stage across AI, fintech, and deep tech, with increasing concentration in AI-native companies.
The firm invests across Europe and has backed companies in Germany, the UK, Austria, and beyond. It is stage- and geography-agnostic within Europe, and will occasionally back companies outside its core verticals when conviction in the team is high.
Angel Invest Fund III closed at ~$44M in June 2026, above its original target, and has already deployed into more than 110 companies.
Across the full franchise, the firm has backed 250+ startups with combined follow-on funding exceeding $2.2B and a combined market cap of over $7.7B. LP composition is not publicly disclosed.
Leadership
Jens Lapinski is Founding Partner. He previously served as Managing Director at Techstars, where his Germany-focused fund invested in 40 companies that raised over $275M, including unicorns Arweave and Preply. He earlier co-founded Forward Labs, predecessor of LSE-listed Forward Partners (acquired by Molten Ventures).
Oliver Clasen is Founding Partner.
Jag Singh is Partner, a two-exit founder (adtech and big data) who leads first-check investing and runs an extremely high-touch founder coaching cadence.
Nazanin Daneshvar is Partner, joining from EQT Ventures, where she invested in early-stage companies; she also co-founded and scaled one of the Middle East's largest consumer startups.
Karl Joseph Seilern and John von Berenberg-Consbruch are Partners.
Connor Murphy is a Venture Partner, founder of Brdg and a former Techstars Managing Director, added alongside the Fund III close.
Investment Strategy
Angel Invest deploys ~$138K first checks at angel and pre-seed stage, then actively supports founders through seed and Series A fundraising using its network of 1,000+ co-investors across European and global VC.
The model is deliberately high-volume, 75 investments per year, with the thesis that deep coaching and network access, applied at sufficient scale, produces better outcomes at the pre-product stage than concentrated conviction investing.
There are no investment committees; partners commit or pass directly after a first meeting. Post-investment, each portfolio company receives at least one year of coaching on product-market fit, hiring, and subsequent fundraising.
The firm also offers portfolio companies access to its perks platform (up to ~$4.4M in credits and discounts from partners).
