Emerald Technology Ventures is a Zurich-based venture capital firm founded in 2000 that specializes in sustainability and climate tech, with offices in Toronto and Singapore. With over €1 billion under management, Emerald is one of the world's longest-running climate tech investors and operates a distinctive model that combines independent venture funds with corporate venture capital mandates for more than 50 large industrial corporations.

Investment Focus

Emerald focuses on technology for the sustainable industrial transformation: water technology (infrastructure resilience, advanced treatment, reuse, digital monitoring, emerging contaminants), energy, materials, food and agriculture, mobility, and industrial IT. The firm also manages the Swiss Government Technology Fund mandate, providing loan guarantees to Swiss climate-tech SMEs.

Fund

The Global Water Fund II reached a €100 million milestone in March 2026, with a first close of €60 million in late 2025 and a target of €150 to €180 million total. LPs include Temasek, the Grundfos Foundation, Veralto Corporation, Ecolab, SKion Water, and Oxy Technology Ventures, a deliberately industrial LP base that also serves as a strategic partner network for portfolio companies. In parallel, Emerald has expanded into Physical AI through a $62 million platform with DIC Corporation (February 2026) and added Festool Group as an LP in its Industrial Innovation Fund (November 2025).

Leadership

Gina Domanig is Managing Partner and CEO, a long-tenured leader who has guided Emerald's growth to over €1 billion in AUM. Dr. Helge Daebel is Partner and Head of the Water practice, leading the Global Water Fund II. Daebel holds a PhD in Environmental Engineering from ETH Zurich and has been with Emerald since 2006, with board roles at multiple water sector companies including Optimatics (acquired by SUEZ) and Pure Technologies (acquired by Xylem). Hans Dellenbach is Senior Partner and CFO.

Investment Strategy

Emerald invests from early to growth stage and is known for co-investing alongside corporate LPs who also serve as strategic partners, customers, and acquirers for portfolio companies. The Corporate Venture Capital as a Service (CVCaaS) model means founders benefit from both institutional venture support and direct access to industrial giants. The firm's 15+ country team provides local presence across Europe, North America, and Asia.
