Greylock

About

Greylock is a Menlo Park-based early-stage venture firm founded in 1965, one of Silicon Valley's oldest and most decorated venture institutions. The firm has been an early partner to some of the defining companies of the internet era, including LinkedIn, Airbnb, Facebook, Workday, Palo Alto Networks, Roblox, Dropbox, Instagram, and Discord. Across its history, Greylock has been involved in more than 100 IPOs and 250 acquisitions. With Greylock 18, the firm formally declares an AI-first mandate, its most significant strategic repositioning in decades.

Investment Focus

Greylock backs early-stage AI-native founders across infrastructure, cybersecurity, applications, deep tech, consumer, and fintech.

The firm invests at seed and Series A, partnering with a highly selective number of founders per partner per year and building with them from inception to IPO and beyond.

Greylock views AI as having made the technology map blank again, every part of the economy open to reinvention, and believes many of the defining AI companies do not yet exist.

Investment Strategy

Each Greylock partner makes one to two new investments per year, a concentration model that distinguishes the firm from multi-stage platforms that spread attention across dozens of companies.

Post-investment, Greylock's in-house talent, recruiting, customer development, and marketing teams work actively alongside portfolio companies: sourcing more than half of early engineering, design, and product hires, helping land the majority of initial enterprise customers, and supporting messaging, positioning, and company launches.

The firm partners with founders from the earliest stages and maintains relationships through IPO and beyond.
