Headline (formerly e.ventures) is a global early-stage venture capital firm headquartered in San Francisco, with regional teams across the United States, Europe, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific. Founded in 1998 as BV Capital by Mathias Schilling and Thomas Gieselmann, the firm uses a proprietary platform, EVA and Athena, to track and score more than 10 million startups.

Investment Focus

Headline's European fund focuses on early-stage AI companies, investing at seed and Series A with the expectation that founders assume global scale from the first conversation.

The firm has the capacity to lead first rounds and continue backing companies through later rounds of $100 million or more via Headline's Global Growth Fund.

Globally, Headline also invests across SaaS, fintech, consumer, and ecommerce, with regional teams covering the United States, Europe, Asia-Pacific, Canada, Africa, Israel, India, Australia and New Zealand, Latin America, and the Middle East and North Africa.

Fund

Headline closed its eighth early-stage European fund at $400M on October 1, 2026, its largest European fund to date. The fund backs AI companies at seed and Series A, building on a European portfolio that includes Mistral and Black Forest Labs.

Headline manages assets globally across its US, Europe, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific funds, including an $865M growth fund focused on later-stage companies.

Headline uses a proprietary technology platform, EVA and Athena, to track and score more than 10 million startups using over a decade of longitudinal data.

The firm operates a "local-to-global" model, in which autonomous regional teams invest independently while drawing on shared infrastructure to help portfolio companies expand internationally.
