Lavni Ventures backs Indian deep-tech founders building foundational technologies in health, climate, energy and education, prioritizing deep science and engineering-driven solutions over software-only approaches.

The firm targets capital-efficient companies addressing serious real-world problems with global scalability potential, investing from seed through Series A and follow-on rounds.

Lavni Ventures closed Fund II at its $21 million target in September 2026, following a first close in August 2025.

The fund carries an additional $10.4 million green-shoe option for follow-on investments. Quest Global, a global engineering services firm, is a strategic limited partner in the fund.

Leadership

Vasu Guruswamy, Sanjay Kanvinde and Krishna Shivram are General Partners of Lavni Ventures.

Guruswamy has three decades of experience in technical and global business operations and serves on the board of STEM Inc. Kanvinde has more than 20 years of experience in R&D, business development and IT management and is based in Pune, where he serves on the board of Venture Center.

Shivram has nearly 30 years of experience in the oil and gas sector, previously serving as CEO of Sentinel Energy Services, and is based in Houston.

The firm's broader team includes Narmada Guruswamy (AI and analytics), Bhuvana Guruswamy (strategic marketing), Venkat Raman and Vailesh Ram (portfolio management).

Investment Strategy

Lavni Ventures writes initial checks of $200,000 to $800,000 at the seed stage, with follow-on investments of $800,000 to $1.5 million into Series A and later rounds.
