MassMutual Ventures (MMV) is the corporate venture capital arm of insurer MassMutual, founded in 2014. MMV invests across two fund families: Climate Technology, and Enterprise SaaS, Fintech, Cybersecurity, and HealthTech. This is a corporate venture fund (CVC), not an independently raised fund with outside LPs.
CTF II targets early-stage companies (primarily Series A and B, open to seed-stage introductions) in the US and Canada applying climate technology and AI to real assets, energy infrastructure, real estate, and natural resources, across three areas:
Climate Intelligence (data and analytics for carbon markets and emissions reporting), Sustainable Cities (built environment decarbonization: HVAC, materials, efficiency), and Clean Power (renewable energy development and demand-side electrification).
MMV's other fund targets Enterprise SaaS, Fintech, Cybersecurity, and HealthTech, led separately by Managing Partners Eric Emmons and Mark Goodman.
Climate Technology Fund II (CTF II) is a $150M vehicle, bringing MMV's total climate-focused commitment to $300M across two funds since Fund I launched in 2023. Fund I backed 16 companies across clean power, energy systems, digital infrastructure, and climate adaptation.
Initial checks run roughly $2M–$5M, with a target pace of 4–6 new investments per year and significant reserves for follow-on. MassMutual itself is CTF II's sole limited partner, a captive corporate venture structure, not an independently raised fund with outside LPs.
MMV as a firm was founded in 2014 and has raised funds beyond climate as well, including a $300M fund in 2022 focused on Asia and Europe.
