Montis VC is a Warsaw-based venture capital firm launched by the team behind Montis Capital, which has been investing in technology and industry in Central and Eastern Europe since 2019. The new fund targets European pre-seed and seed startups building at the intersection of energy, industrial transformation, and artificial intelligence.
Montis VC focuses on two converging trends: the energy and industrial transition in Europe, and the application of AI to sectors such as manufacturing, energy grids, logistics, and industrial infrastructure.
The firm backs scalable companies with the potential to improve economic productivity, strengthen Europe's competitiveness, and build globally relevant technology from a Central and Eastern European base.
Montis VC announced the €50 million first close of its debut fund in March 2026, with plans to increase total capitalization in the coming months. Key limited partners include the European Investment Fund through the REPowerEU programme, the Polish Development Fund (PFR Ventures, which committed €10 million), and family offices and private investors from across Central and Eastern Europe.
The fund targets 20 to 25 investments at pre-seed and seed stage, with initial checks of €0.5 million to €2 million. Half of the fund's capital is reserved for follow-on rounds into the strongest portfolio companies. The €50 million first close is described as a starting point, with fundraising ongoing.
Leadership
Montis VC is led by three managing partners: Łukasz Dziekoski, Wojciech Szwankowski, and Michał Gawéda, all of whom ran the predecessor Montis Capital. Michał Baś joined from pan-European VC firm Venture Friends. The venture partner network includes Taavi Rõivas, former Prime Minister of Estonia; entrepreneur Tomasz Misiak; and renewable energy specialist Bart Dujczyński.
Investment Strategy
Montis VC writes initial checks of €0.5 million to €2 million at pre-seed and seed stage, targeting companies with a finished product and early revenue traction. The team describes its approach as fast, flexible, and closely founder-aligned, with active support on strategy, cross-border growth, and preparation for subsequent funding rounds.
Notable Investments
Montis VC has not yet disclosed portfolio companies from the new fund. The predecessor fund, Montis Capital, deployed approximately €30 million across nine companies including:
