Orion Industrial Ventures is a New York based investment firm created to back technologies that secure a sustainable and economic supply of critical minerals, materials, and natural resources. The firm was launched by Orion Resource Partners to accelerate innovation across the resource and industrial landscape, with a focus on long term global demand for minerals that underpin energy, infrastructure, and advanced manufacturing.
OIV Fund I closed at 43 million dollars in January 2026. The fund was designed as a proof of concept to demonstrate the opportunity in backing early growth companies modernizing critical mineral supply chains.
The vehicle is backed by global mining companies, family offices, and high net worth investors who want exposure to next generation resource technologies. Fund I focuses on innovations that make mineral and materials supply both scalable and sustainable, including new approaches to resource discovery, advanced mineral processing, energy efficient extraction, water and energy inputs for mining, and circular systems for recycling metals.
The team leverages Orion Resource Partners’ industrial asset base, technical expertise, and project financing capabilities to help portfolio companies reach commercial scale. By the time of the close, the fund had already deployed about half of its capital across 15 companies in the United States, Chile, Canada, Sweden, and Australia, with a strong pipeline of additional opportunities.
