
SEMCAP Food & Nutrition is the food-focused investment arm of SEMCAP, a growth equity firm targeting transformational sectors. Based in the US and Canada, the strategy backs high-growth food companies delivering sustainable, better-for-you products across North America.
SEMCAP Food & Nutrition closed its inaugural fund at $125 million in January 2026. LPs include Fresh Del Monte, Farm Credit Canada (FCC), Securian Financial (via Minnesota Life), and several food industry brokers and executives from existing portfolio companies.
This fund targets North American food businesses with at least $25 million in revenue and proven product-market fit. The strategy is to invest behind brands with strong consumer loyalty and help them scale distribution, improve operations, and form strategic partnerships.
With this close, SEMCAP Food & Nutrition now has over $500 million in total AUM under its umbrella. Recent investments from the fund include ALOHA, Fresh Prep, Good Culture, Kite Hill, and Purely Elizabeth.
Leadership
The investment team is led by John Haugen, Kate Storey, and Ryan Newcom. SEMCAP’s co-founders and co-CIOs, Buck Buckley and Cyrus Vandrevala, also sit on the investment committee, bringing institutional and consumer investing experience to the fund’s governance.
