Senovo

About

Senovo is a Munich and Berlin-based venture capital firm founded in 2013, specializing exclusively in European B2B software. Across 12 years and four funds, the firm has made 40+ initial investments, produced 13 exits, and built a portfolio that includes three unicorns. It is one of Europe's longest-running specialist B2B software franchises, and one of the few that has stayed deliberately narrow rather than expanding into a multi-stage, multi-sector platform.

Investment Focus

Senovo backs European B2B software companies at Seed and Series A, typically after product-market fit and first revenues, with an ambition to become global category leaders.

Current focus areas include AI-first enterprise software, cybersecurity, industrial tech, open source, infrastructure, IoT, and deep-tech-adjacent SaaS for mid-market and enterprise digitalization.

Leadership

Frederick von Mallinckrodt is Co-Founder and Partner. He co-founded Senovo in 2013 with a background at Siemens and as a PE/M&A lawyer in Washington D.C.

Dr. Alexander Buchberger is Co-Founder and Partner, with a doctorate in technology management and a background in startup risk research.

Markus Grundmann is Partner, joining in 2016 with a Cambridge MBA and 20 years of software industry experience; he led the Manta and Quantilope investments among others.

Mona Gindler is Partner, focused on the founder-led-to-scalable-sales transition and the Iberian ecosystem, and serves as Germany's Female Founders Ambassador.

Investment Strategy

Senovo writes $1.1M–$5.5M initial checks into European B2B software companies post product-market fit, targeting one to two investments per partner per year, a high-conviction, low-volume model that prioritizes meaningful ownership over portfolio diversification.

Post-investment support focuses on three areas where European B2B companies most commonly stall: building a scalable sales motion, standing up performance-driven HR, and executing US market entry.

The firm operates from Munich and Berlin with active portfolio engagement across the DACH region, Iberia, and broader Europe.
