Verne Capital is a Germany- and Luxembourg-based venture capital firm founded in 2025 by Benjamin Krahmer and Michael Singer. The firm invests in early-stage startups building breakthrough technologies for defence, security, and cybersecurity, with a mission to strengthen European sovereignty, protect critical infrastructure, and enhance resilience against emerging threats.
Verne Capital targets European defense tech startups with frontline-tested technologies and strong teams. It evaluates companies on technological expertise, scalability, and what it calls “defense IQ.”
The fund places emphasis on startups tackling national security challenges, dual-use technologies, and critical infrastructure protection.
In October 2025, Verne Capital launched its debut €100 million fund, with €25 million earmarked specifically for Ukrainian defence tech companies.
The fund allocates around a third to the DACH region and the rest across Europe, with an explicit commitment to strengthening Ukraine’s defence innovation ecosystem.
Leadership
The firm is led by Benjamin Krahmer and Michael Singer, its Co-Founders. Both previously led Futury, the predecessor fund whose success and investor base laid the foundation for Verne Capital, with several LPs rolling over into the new firm. Their shared background in venture building and fund management anchors Verne’s approach to long-term, thesis-driven investing.
Investment Strategy
The firm combines capital investment with hands-on strategic support. Its model includes facilitating follow-on funding by connecting portfolio startups to European investors and corporates.
The fund benefits from guidance from an industrial advisory board of former Airbus executives, German Army procurement leaders, and senior cybersecurity experts.
Notable Investments
As a newly launched fund, Verne Capital’s initial portfolio is in formation, with early commitments expected across defence, cybersecurity, and dual-use technology startups in Europe and Ukraine.
Other
Verne Capital aims to be more than a financial investor, providing ecosystem access, credibility, and defence-industry connections. Its focus on Ukrainian defence startups is notable in the broader European landscape, signaling a strong geopolitical and mission-driven dimension.
