Weekend Fund

About

Weekend Fund is an early-stage venture capital firm founded in 2017 by Ryan Hoover and Vedika Jain. Ryan founded Product Hunt in 2013, the platform where Figma, Notion, Deel, and Loom first found their audiences, backed by Y Combinator and a16z before being acquired by AngelList. Shortly after the acquisition, he started Weekend Fund. The firm is built on a simple but distinctive model: a small, two-person team with a product-native lens, an LP network of 350+ operators and founders who actively help portfolio companies, and a sourcing advantage rooted in Ryan's decade-long front-row seat to every ambitious founder shipping product on Product Hunt.

Investment Focus

Weekend Fund invests in early-stage companies capitalizing on consumer behavior or technology shifts, across both consumer and B2B. The fund focuses on non-consensus startups, leveraging Ryan's Product Hunt background and custom-built internal tools to identify founders before the market arrives. Sectors include SaaS, AI/ML, fintech, consumer products, and developer tools. The firm invests globally.

Leadership

Ryan Hoover is the founder and General Partner. He started his career as a product manager in the gaming industry, co-wrote Hooked: How to Build Habit-Forming Products, and founded Product Hunt in 2013. Vedika Jain is a General Partner. She began her career at Stripe in 2015 during its explosive growth phase, then joined TrueLayer in London as their first product manager, helping grow the company from 8 to over 80 people. She joined Weekend Fund in 2019 as Chief of Staff before becoming GP.

Investment Strategy

Weekend Fund evaluates roughly 2,000 companies each year and writes checks into approximately 15, a 1% acceptance rate. The firm maintains small fund sizes that allow it to write $100K–$300K checks without crowding out other investors. Its LP base of 350+ operators and founders from companies like Stripe, Figma, and Airbnb actively help with deal sourcing and founder support rather than serving as passive capital. Alongside investing, the team builds internal products for portfolio founders and LPs, including Rolodexer, SignatureBlock, and FastRound.

Notable Investments

Intercom, Deel, Pipe, Magic.link, Luminai, Truemed, Mainframe, Certn, Blueland, CoinShift, Extropic, Adaptive Computer, Cytronic, JustPoint, MoonPay, Alt, Outset, Rail, Atlys, Function Health, Mindbloom, Syndicate, InVideo, Voiceflow, and more.

Notable Exits

Notable exits include Awari, Supergreat, and Poparazzi. Deel, in which Weekend Fund invested at a $10M post-money valuation at seed, is among the fund's standout portfolio outcomes.

Other

Weekend Fund is one of the first early-stage funds added to USVC's portfolio, opening access to non-accredited US investors for the first time. The firm evaluates deals with a strong product lens and backs founders at the earliest stages, often before any formal fundraise has begun.
